About Lisa | Hi, Lisa Leonard Dalton here. You know me as the "Sloopy Girl" dancer. People often ask me when I filmed the Sloopy dance. That video came out in Europe in 1975. Rick Derringer had been the front man with his group the McCoys and they had hit big with "Hang on Sloopy" in 1965. But when I danced at MGM Hollywood in 1975, Rick was updating the song with a trendy at the time reggae style. Many of the online videos of my dance, unfortunately, are labeled as 1960s and they also have the wrong music track. Here at my website and at my YouTube channel I will set the record straight. A Decade Later | 
| My last name before marriage was Leonard. Here are the five Leonard sisters. You can tell from the calendar on the wall that this is from 1986. That was just 11 years after I filmed the Sloopy dance. There are lots of online photos of me at Gazzarri's club on the Sunset Strip, and doing the Sloopy dance, and recent photos. But not all that many from in between. Can you identify me in the picture? PS... look for the shiny earring. |

Sloopy Girl Smile | 
| Steven Smith, who has helped me with my videos, was going through some pictures one day. He found a photo of me from 2010 and he said my smile was identical to the way I looked in the Sloopy Girl video. He believes that smile alone, no need for photo recognition, was all the evidence anyone needed to realize I was the Sloopy Girl. I think he's right! |

I performed my now famous "Sloopy Girl" dance in 1975. At the time, Rick Derringer, previously the front man for the McCoys who'd had the hit with the tune, was re-releasing "Hang On Sloopy" ten years after it had topped the pop charts. It was nearly 40 years later that by happenstance I finally saw my dance appear on YouTube. Since it has been on social media, the Sloopy dance video has been viewed more than 200 million times. I live in Tennessee these days and I look forward to communicating with my friends and fans by way of this website and at my "Sloopy Girl" YouTube channel.

Also, were you familiar with any of the dance troupes on Great Britains BBC's Top of the Pops?Lisa replied:Gary, danced a lot at Gazzarri's in high school and after. The Gazzarri dance troupe had been disbanded a few years before I got to Gazzarris. I heard about it after the fact. I saw some of the British dancers on TV. That was all. Thanks for asking. |
